It has finally happened. The one thing Norway has been happily shielded against and only witnessed on the news: terror. Today the Norwegian capital, Oslo, was bombed. So far seven have been confirmed killed. Few moments later, a youth club meeting holding over 700 people were invaded by police-dressed shooters. 10 confirmed killed. For many, this is almost daily life. I have never been anywhere close, and right now I feel really bad. What I have feared for years has finally happened. Please, let this thread be a calm discussion about the things in the world most people could live without. Let us remind those killed, hurt and left behind in ruthless and useless actions. For want of a bird The sky was lost For want of a nail A shoe was lost For want of a life A knife was lost For want of a toy A child was lost
If there's one thing you can say about mankind There's nothing kind about man
Misery is the river of the world

Life's fucked up, isn't it?
Sounds similar to 9/11/2001 in the U.S.
Mankind could do without terrorism

Yes, we could. But with todays society I'm afraid it will be a long time until we will be able to see a world without it.

The tabloids blew it up as an Al-Qaida attack. It was one, single man - a Norwegian considering himself almost a patriot - who killed almost a hundred people in hours. 80 of them were people my age, youths. One fucking mad man killed 90 persons in hours. It is almost unbelievable. I don't have words. This is a tragedy.
When I met my best friend on saturday, the day after the attacks, I was shocked. She is the most steady person I know, and she was heartbroken. Not knowing wether your friends are alive or not, I cannot understand how it must feel. I almost consider myself lucky not knowing anyone who was at the youth meeting.

Hundreds were not killed, the actual number at the shooting was 68, not 86. Also, there is no confirmed link between him and the bomb, although it is likely.
The youngest was 6, and the oldest was 27 I believe. I have a few friends in Norway, one of which was supposed to be at the Labour party on Utoya. Thankfully, she got sick and her mother wouldn't let her go. I called her as soon as I heard about it which was 9 hours previous to the attacks. She and some of my other Norwegian friends have kept me updated with what their news is saying.
I was heartbroken as well, since the man who did it, was after all Norwegian. He thinks himself as some sort of god, and thinks he was being patriotic. People with the same name as him feel devastated and one said this, "It was like waking up, and being named Hitler."

68 were shot down at on Utoya. That isn't counting deaths due to injuries or the bombing. I get my info from the Norwegian news, rather than the American since I trust it more.
