Hi all, while going through the books thread on here, I realized that you guys have really good tastes in books. So I was hoping a few people could help me.
For school, I have to do summer reading. I get to choose one book from a list of three. My choices this year all sound kin of boring, so I was thinking, what if I got the opinions of people who have already read them?
Here are my choices: •Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston •The Awakening by Kate Chopin •The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
I don't know much about any of these books, except that the last choice is a war book, the first has something to do with marriages and divorces, and the middle is a love story? That's what my teacher said, anyway.
I usually read fictional books, my favorites being The Hunger Games and The Lovely Bones. There's probably a few others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Thanks for any help and, so this thread won't just be for me, anyone can ask about books if you please. xD

I know I probably won't be much help, especially since I read these books for school as well 10+ years ago. I recall that The Things They Carried was a very good read. I loved the way it was written, and if I recall it was told more like in short stories? It's a good book not to get bored of, at least. And I never liked war and non-fiction books. Never read the first one, but I did enjoy The Awakening. Kind of an exploration into a woman's differing opinion on femininity during that time. I think there was a love story. I may be confusing it with something else, too. Not sure on the first at all, but hard to really know which you'd enjoy the most. If I had to choose one, I'd choose Tim O'Brien's.

If you're into historical writing The Things They Carried is pretty good, I had to read it for my American History class in high school. It gets pretty depressing at points. I haven't read the other two.
